Looking for the handle

It was another nice evening at Miami County Speedway this week. Jerod was fast in hotlaps and finished 3rd in the heat race and 2nd in the dash for cash. He started 4th on the feature grid. The track is taking on its summer time form of being extremely hard and slick. Jerod was running in the 2nd position when the track won and Jerod slid sideways out of a corner and lost spots back to his finishing position of 5th. We will have to sort some things out in the shop this week on our slick track setup.

A real slick time

Jerod did battle again Sunday evening. You can only expect so much out of a dirt track on the second day of a two day show. The track was very slick for the heat race and Jerod found it to be a little slick out of 4 and ended up on the tail of the heat and had to settle with a 4th place finish. That put him 7th on the feature grid and battle the other cars and the thoughts of track condition to make his way up to 4th by the end. That closed the book on a decent, but not great, weekend of racing.

The upside down experience

We had the biggest field of cars yet this season this Saturday. Jerod started in the back of his heat and as he was passing a car, he his a rut that popped his right rear tire and sent him over. We were able to borrow a wing for the feature and he again started in the back. He made some ground and while trying to avoid a spinning car, his car went sideways and tipped over again. He had to run the rest of the race without a wing and was still able to gain more spots up to 3rd at the drop of the checkered flag.

3-peat

We want to just say what a priveledge it was for Jerod to participate in the 3rd annual salute the troops race. Thank you to all the past and present service people who keep this country free, you are appreciated. Jerod had a good draw this week and started on the pole of his heat only to spin out in turn 4 on the first lap. He regained his composure and was able to pick off cars one at a time and pass the final car in the same turn 4 on the last lap to win the race. He went on to win the dash for cash and finished the evening by winning the feature flag to flag. We want to also thank the miami county crew for finding the sponsors for the extra payout tonight and for whipping the track into shap during intermission.

2 in a row.

Jerod started 5th in his heat race and was second as the checkered flag dropped. Starting 3rd in the dash he was able to make his way to the lead and win the dash for cash. Jerod had drawn the number 4 after his heat race and was able to secure 2nd after the first lap and ran a few car lengths behind the leader most of the race. As the two leaders reached lapped traffic, Jerod was able to make the pass for the lead and won his second straight feature.

1st Win of the season!

Saturday, May 2nd, we ventured back over to the Miami County Speedway for a night of racing action. Jerod didn't draw the best and started 5th in his heat, but was able to work his way up to 2nd by the end. In the dash he started 3rd and finished 3rd complaining that the motor was stumbling a bit. We worked on all possible problems and he went out for the feature with our fingers crossed it would run alright. He started second and was able to wrestle the lead going into turn one and was able to lead all 20 laps from there, caution free. Jerod commented what a short race it seemed, but to his parents it was more like a 100 laps. Jerod wants to thank his sponsors for their help and everyone that helps each other at the track. He hopes this is the first win of a couple more to come.
