Made the show
Had a better night Sunday. We were a little off in qualifying as we had trouble keeping up with the changing track conditions. In the heat race it got a little wild with cars making contact with a couple of laps to go and some three wide action. We were able to put the car in the feature with a 3rd place finish. In the feature my strategy was to keep pace and finish with out breaking anything. We accomplished that goal and came home 12th. All in all it was a fun weekend and we broke even.

A little short
Crazy first day at the Fort Wayne Rumble. Was pretty fast in practice and looked to qualify in the top 12 to make the heat invert and start up front. Car that went out before me oiled down the track and I about spun out both times. Still qualified 15th out of 32, but not good enough. Finished 4th in the heat and they took 3. Finished 3 in the bmain, but they only took 2. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Jerod and I went and watched at US24 up through the heat races. Did not get to participate due to having to get back to the church for evening services. Weather not looking good for this coming week at this point.

October 3rd
Jerod raced in the restrictor class once again at US24 speedway. He did a fine job in his second night in a 600 cc car. He finished 5th in the heat race and 7th in the feature as he hung in there when some other cars experienced trouble. He did a nice job of hanging with the pack this week. We look for continued improvement in the next couple of weeks with more laps run.

Jerod's 600 debut
Jerod started his firs 600cc race this past Saturday in the restrictor class at US24 speedway. He did a fine job of making laps in the car and keeping his line as he picked up speed from the beginning of the night to the end. He is excited about the bigger car and now just needs a lot more laps in it.

A win for the new car.
We were unable to get the pedals moved on the 600 this past week in time for Jerod to race it. This left Jeremy to race it in the Sr non wing class and the open winged class this past Saturday evening at the Miami County Speedway. In the wing class he finished 5th in his heat and was running 8th in the 22 car field when the car developed a miss that forced him out of the event. In the non wing class, Jeremy went from an 8th place start to finish 2nd. He won the dash for cash by inches. In the feature event he started 4th and was able to capitalize with the leaders running into trouble in lapped traffic to win the race. Hopefully we can have Jerod behind the wheel this coming week.

Car Tested
Dear ole' dad tested the new 600 for Jerod this past weekend. On Saturday night Jeremy started 7th in a winged class heat and finish 5th. He started 15th in the feature, but did not complete the event. In the non-wing senior class he started 6th in a heat race and came up to 3rd. Starting 7th in the feature, Jeremy finished 5th in the running order. On Sunday evening Jeremy ran the winged class and finished 3rd in the heat and 10th in the feature. All in all a decent weekend and the car is now being converted over for Jerod to run the restrictor class.

Saturday 8/28
After taking a weekend off we were back at it this Saturday night. Jerod started on the outside of the front row in his heat race and was able to do a nice job of working the outside line to grab the lead and win. He started and finished 4th in the dash. He was running comfortably in the second position in the feature until lapped traffic slowed his pace. He went to third and back to forth. A caution came out and the order went back to the last completed lap which put him back in 3rd and this is the position he finished the event. Jeremy had the opportunity to drive in the senior class starting 6th in the heat race and finishing 3rd. He then started 6th in the feature and had passed for 5th when he was black flagged for a hot and sparking brake rotor. All in all a fun night.

August 15th
With Peru shut down this week we had 17 Jrs sign in at US24. Jerod started off well, clocking in 5th quick in qualifying. He finished 2nd in the heat, 5th in the dash. The feature was a good race and Jerod was a solid 5th at the checkers. It was a good night with a great field of cars.

August 8th double features
In the make up from last week, Jerod did a nice job of running the low side and keeping the car straight in a non-wing event and came home with a 3rd place feature finish. In the normal event with the wing back on, he started last in the heat and finished 3rd and then finished 6th in the feature event. Car rolled back in the trailer so it was a good night!

August 1, Ended soggy
We traveled to Miami County Speedway this week to watch the big non-wing 600 show. The Jr sprints ran non wing. Jerod finished fouth in his heat race. As the cars hit the track for the feature it began to rain. After 45 minutes of off and on rain, it was determined to cancel for the night and they will run the make-up feature next week.

US24 7/26
We headed back to US24 for a night of racing this past week. Jerod had an up and down night. He had a handling issue in qualifying that had him go nose first in the fence, do a 360 and keep going. He missed 2nd quick time by .003 . Jerod put his car up front in the heat race and was able to win it. He had a 3rd place finish in the dash. He was running 3rd in the feature until the motor developed a major miss and he had to retire from the event.

7/18
We headed to US24 Speedway this past Saturday night. Jerod timed in 3rd quick in qualifying. He finished 6th in his heat, 5th in the dash and then 5th in the feature. The track was good all night long.

7/11/09
We visited the Miami County Speedway on 7/11. Jerod started 3rd in his heat and was involved in two cautions which resulted in a black flag. He had to start 9th in the feature event and passed two cars in the caution free race to come home 7th.

US24 visit
We made our first visit to US24 speedway of the season. It was a great night of racing in all of the classes and the program ran quickly for the amount of time taken to rip up and water the track 3 times. Jerod was 5th quick of the 12 cars in attendance. He finished 3rd in his heat and 5th in the dash. He came back with another top 5 for the season, finishing 5th in the feature event.

This week
This past Saturday Jerod started near the tale in his heat race and finish 4th. He then captured a third place finish in the dash for cash. He ran third in the feature until 5 laps remaining and the rear of the car came around and he lost position and ended up 7th. Miami County speedway is closed for their fair the next two Saturday's and we will not be attending the Wednesday night fair race due to church camp!

A solid night
This past Saturday night Jerod finished 4th in his heat race. He then went on to claim the dash for cash victory. The track by feature time was smooth and somewhat slick again. We made some drastic changes to the car that has been ill handling on slick tracks so far this year. The car was much better and was even tight in the corners so few more adjustments will have to be made, but Jerod finished a very solid 3rd.

Looking for the handle
It was another nice evening at Miami County Speedway this week. Jerod was fast in hotlaps and finished 3rd in the heat race and 2nd in the dash for cash. He started 4th on the feature grid. The track is taking on its summer time form of being extremely hard and slick. Jerod was running in the 2nd position when the track won and Jerod slid sideways out of a corner and lost spots back to his finishing position of 5th. We will have to sort some things out in the shop this week on our slick track setup.

A real slick time
Jerod did battle again Sunday evening. You can only expect so much out of a dirt track on the second day of a two day show. The track was very slick for the heat race and Jerod found it to be a little slick out of 4 and ended up on the tail of the heat and had to settle with a 4th place finish. That put him 7th on the feature grid and battle the other cars and the thoughts of track condition to make his way up to 4th by the end. That closed the book on a decent, but not great, weekend of racing.

The upside down experience
We had the biggest field of cars yet this season this Saturday. Jerod started in the back of his heat and as he was passing a car, he his a rut that popped his right rear tire and sent him over. We were able to borrow a wing for the feature and he again started in the back. He made some ground and while trying to avoid a spinning car, his car went sideways and tipped over again. He had to run the rest of the race without a wing and was still able to gain more spots up to 3rd at the drop of the checkered flag.

3-peat
We want to just say what a priveledge it was for Jerod to participate in the 3rd annual salute the troops race. Thank you to all the past and present service people who keep this country free, you are appreciated. Jerod had a good draw this week and started on the pole of his heat only to spin out in turn 4 on the first lap. He regained his composure and was able to pick off cars one at a time and pass the final car in the same turn 4 on the last lap to win the race. He went on to win the dash for cash and finished the evening by winning the feature flag to flag. We want to also thank the miami county crew for finding the sponsors for the extra payout tonight and for whipping the track into shap during intermission.

2 in a row.
Jerod started 5th in his heat race and was second as the checkered flag dropped. Starting 3rd in the dash he was able to make his way to the lead and win the dash for cash. Jerod had drawn the number 4 after his heat race and was able to secure 2nd after the first lap and ran a few car lengths behind the leader most of the race. As the two leaders reached lapped traffic, Jerod was able to make the pass for the lead and won his second straight feature.

1st Win of the season!
Saturday, May 2nd, we ventured back over to the Miami County Speedway for a night of racing action. Jerod didn't draw the best and started 5th in his heat, but was able to work his way up to 2nd by the end. In the dash he started 3rd and finished 3rd complaining that the motor was stumbling a bit. We worked on all possible problems and he went out for the feature with our fingers crossed it would run alright. He started second and was able to wrestle the lead going into turn one and was able to lead all 20 laps from there, caution free. Jerod commented what a short race it seemed, but to his parents it was more like a 100 laps. Jerod wants to thank his sponsors for their help and everyone that helps each other at the track. He hopes this is the first win of a couple more to come.

Saturday April 26th.
I want to begin with saying thanks to Kenny for taking Jerod over to the track while Jamie and I finished up with the 30 hour famine at church. Practice went pretty well and just a couple of adjustments were made. Jerod started second in the heat and finished 3rd with a car that wanted to get loose off the corner. He again started second in the feature (no dashes, boo). He slipped to thrid and at time got closer to the second place car only to to break loose in turn four and lose momentum. Jerod ended up finishing thrid, so all in all a good night for the first time out in 2009.
